Short-Term Scheduling of Crude Oil Operations and Its Complexity

Bai Li-ping,Wu Nai-qi (Faculty of Electromechanical Engineering,Guangdong University of Technology,Guangzhou 510090,China)
This paper focuses on the tractability of short-term scheduling for crude oil operations. With the help of control theory,a model of short-term scheduling is developed. Then the complexity of pipeline scheduling is discussed. It concludes that the short-term scheduling problem of crude oil operations is NP-hard,which implies that it is intractable and further research is required.
