On Banhong Conflict: Based on the Reaction of Nanjing Government and the National Identity of the Wa Ethnic Group

The Burma Company came to Banhong area on the purpose of developing the Lu-fang silver mine with the British militants in the late 1933. Such action caused strong resistance from local Wa residents and led to reopening the boundary negotiation between China and Britain. But there are still some arguments on this conflict.In fact, the Nanjing government's series of actions were quite worthy of praise. And the Wa group's China identification was not so strong as the commonly recognized.
