Study on Initiative Travelling Wave Fault Location Technique for High Voltage Transmission Line

In this paper, a new double ends initiative travelling wave fault location technique for high voltage line is presented. This technique uses the high precision GPS synchronization, the high speed data acquisition and checking techniques. When there is fault on the line, the fault location system sends out detection waves to the fault point from its both ends, then collects, checks and times the e-choes quickly before the tripping protection cuts off the line. The refraction and echo analysis technique of detection waves and compound waves and the disturbance wave distinguishing technique are used to analyze the data. At last, the fault location will be located comparatively exactly. This technique has quite strong anti-interference ability, reliability and flexibility.
