Analysis of Insulation Structure of Fast Slide-in Terminals and Joints of Flexible Power Cable

Electric field distribution at fast slide-in cable te rminals is analyzed by method of FEM in this paper. The features of compression stress and compression strain at interface as well as creep and fatigue of rubbe r material are discussed. The results indicate that the field control cone is im portant in design of insulation structure of the terminals and joints of flexibl e cable. The elastic and permanent distortion of EPR used as main insulating mat erial should be 50% and 2% respectively. The surplus tolerance of sizes between XLPE and EPR should be 1.7~2.6.
