Design and manufacturing of glass-based optical splitter with compact layout

To fabricate high performance optical splitter with compact structure,1×16 and 1×32 splitters with lengths below 25 mm are designed and fabricated on glass substrate,by Ag+-Na+ ion-exchange and field-assisted ion diffusion technology.Testing result shows:for right-half of 1×16 optical splitter,insertion loss is 9.87-10.84 dB,excess loss being 0.87-1.84 dB,and uniformity 0.97 dB.Loss and uniformity characteristics of splitters have reached international production level.
