Structural decomposition and spatial characteristics in economic growth of the Lanzhou-Baiyin-Xining urban agglomeration in western China

Esteban-Marquillas' Shift-share Model is used in the analysis of economic growth and structural decomposition of the Lanzhou-Baiyin-Xining urban agglomeration of Gansu and Qinghai Province,northwestern China,from2010 to 2015. The spatial data analysis method is used for investigating the spatial characteristics of the total amount of economic growth and its components. The results showed as follows:( 1) Economic growth is unbalanced among the 41 counties of Lanzhou-Baiyin-Xining Urban Agglomeration,and it displayed a pattern of ‘core-periphery'with Lanzhou and Xining City being the dual cores and the rest being the peripheries. As the economic center,Lanzhou is more significant.( 2) According to the total amount of economic growth and its components,41 counties are divided into 4 types: the rapid economic growth type,the economic lag growth type,the competitive advantage driven type and the resource allocation advantage driven type.( 3) Total amount of economic growth,the component of share deviation,the component of industrial structure had characteristics of agglomeration in space,while the component of competitiveness had characteristics of random distribution,and the component of resource allocation had negative spatial correlation.( 4) The spatial coincidence degree of the component of share deviation,the component of industrial structure and total amount of economic growth is relatively high. The spatial coincidence degree of the component of competitiveness,the component of resource allocation and total amount of economic growth needs to be optimized.
