Analysis on the dust storm LH phenomenon in Loess Plateau

The number of dust storms( N) with the duration greater than t,is obeyed by lgN = a- bt,i. e.,LH phenomenon. The dust storm durations in Loess Plateau were analyzed. The mean duration of dust storm was126. 5 min for spring,51. 9 min for summer,95. 9 min for autumn and 113. 6 min for winter,respectively. The duration distribution of dust storm for spring,autumn and winter obeyed the LH phenomenon and with b value of0. 1634 hr- 1,0.2043 hr- 1,0.1707 hr- 1,respectively. For summer,the duration distribution of dust storm was different from the LH phenomenon,but while t ≤ 8h the duration distribution obeyed LH phenomenon and with b value of 0. 2639 hr- 1.
