Vegetation cover change and its cooling effects in Shenyang

An important factor influencing the thermal environment,the vegetation can play a significant cooling and dust removal effect. Taking the big city- Shenyang,Liaoning province as an example,we discussed the vegetation cover from 1995 to 2013,and the urban thermal environment effect of spatio- temporal evolution and characteristics; we further analyzed the intrinsic connection by using RS and GIS technology through land surface temperature and vegetation coverage index calculation. The results showed that the change of Fractional Vegetation Cover directly influenced the surface temperature; there was an obvious negative correlation. when vegetation coverage increased 10% in the area,the surface temperature could decrease about 0. 71 ℃ averagely. The Fractional Vegetation Cover of thermal environment effects varied from place to place,but it had small differences.
