Based on the standard deviation ellipse model, gravity center model and geographic deviation index, and focused on the county administrative zones, the spatial evolution in administrative divisions at the county level from 1985 to 2015 was analyzed. results show that the county-level administrative zones had experienced the balanced set stage, the county-level cities dominate stage and the municipal districts dominate stage in the past 30 years. Changes in the municipal districts presented the characteristics of " along the coast"-" along the river"-" along the big urban agglomeration",and the county-level cities presented the characteristics of " eastern and central"-" west and border". The additional county-level cities and municipal districts increasingly dispersed, and most of them moved to the north and west. the set of municipal districts and county-level cities presented the obviously negative correlation in direction. More municipal districts were set in orientation of geographical center, but more county-level cities were in orientation of provincial capital. Finally,we proposed the county-level administrative zones optimization idea.
