Analysis of input-output efficiency considering undesirable output of petrochemical industry in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region

In this research,the input-output efficiency of petrochemical industry in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei was studied by using SBM model. The waste water discharge,waste gas emission and solid waste emissions were used as undesired outputs and incorporated into the framework of input-output efficiency to evaluate the petrochemical industry input-output efficiency of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region from 2003 to 2014. Then we compared it with the traditional CCR model. Then by using relaxation rate analysis to find key factors to promote the efficiency of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei petrochemical industry. The results show that input-output efficiency of petrochemical industry in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei was generally low,it was in effective state only in 2 of the 12 years. The industry has a larger room for improvement. The discharge of three wastes influenced the petrochemical industry efficiency to a certain extent.
