Appropriate scale and stability of oasis in Aksu river basin

Choosing Aksu river basin as the study area,a suitable oasis scale computation model was built based on water-heat balance,and the suitable scale and stability of oasis in Aksu river basin was analyzed by using the hydro-meteorological data during 1960-2010. Under current water inflow condition,the suitable scale of natural oasis is about 1. 37 × 104 km2,and the suitable scale of artificial oasis is approximately 0. 41 × 104 km2 in the Aksu river basin. The oasis of Aksu river basin has been in a state of unstable degeneration for a long time,this is principally because the actual area of the oasis has far exceeded the suitable oasis scale. Therefore,study the water consumption mechanism of the oasis in the Aksu river basin is of great significance to analyze the rational allocation of limited water resources and maintain the stability and sustainable development of the oasis.
