Environmental conditions and identification index factors of hail clouds

Using the ECMWF reanalysis data,the environmental conditions and the identification index factors of hail were analyzed based on the hail record of the weather modification operation point in Bayannur,Inner Mongolia,2009-2015. The results show that when the hail occurred,the total index was above 48℃,the CAPE was larger,SI or LI was less than 1,and the potential pseudo-equivalent temperature lapse rate( 850 h Pa-500 h Pa) was above 29℃. The height of 0℃ layer was 3. 8-4. 4 km( 3. 1-3. 8 km in May and September),the height of-20℃ layer was 7. 1-8. 0 km( 6. 0-7. 0 km in May and September),and the thickness of 0℃ to-20℃ was maintained between 3. 0 ~ 3. 6 km. The relative humidity of 850 h Pa was between 20-60%,while the relative humidity of 700 h Pa and 500 h Pa was between 50-80%. The physical quantity also reflected the strength of hail to a certain extent. It is worth noting that we should select the basic physical quantities that have definite physical meanings in the diagnosis of hail environment.
