ZHANG Jing;ZHAO Haili;Institute of Geography and Environmental Sciences,Northwest University;
Through statistics and arrangement of flood and drought disasters in the Fenhe river basin during the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of flood and drought disasters in the Fenhe river basin in the Ming and Qing Dynasties were discussed by using the methods of cumulative anomalies,moving average and wavelet analysis. The results show that:( 1) There were 116 floods and 87 droughts events.The frequency of the former was 4. 12 times per year while the latter was 5. 86 times. The inter-annual changes of floods and droughts generally showed an upward trend,and the stage characteristics were still obvious. Among them,the period of 1641-1662 and 1830-1911 were as the rapid stages,and there were fluctuate in the period of 1662-1746 and 1767-1830.( 2) The flood and drought disasters in Fenhe river basin showed significant seasonal characteristics. The floods were concentrated in summer and autumn,with the frequency of 53. 3% in summer and 46. 5% in autumn. The drought were more lasting than floods,and the both of flood and drought occurred mainly in spring with the frequency of 52%,while the droughts were 36% in spring and summer,sometimes it could occurred in three or four seasons.( 3) Flood and drought disasters had obvious spatial differences and were mainly distributed in Taiyuan,Jinzhong and Luliang cities and their counties( cities). Looking the entire basin,the floods and droughts focused in the middle and lower reaches of the Fenhe river,especially in the middle reaches,such as the Wenyu river,Ciyao river and the Xiao river.( 4) There were mainly the general disasters in Fenhe river during Ming and Qing dynasties,the cycle of floods and droughts were 50 years,70 years,150 years and 300 years.
