Based on the method of social network analysis, this study constructed the characteristics of self-help tourism space network structure in Gansu-Qinghai-Ningxia region, put forward the optimization proposal, analyzed the spatial network of self-help travel from the overall and partial perspectives,to provide references for the optimization of the tourism networks in this region and the cross-border tourism research. The results reveal that:(1)The self-help tourism network showed a lower development degree and a low density, there were four partitions at the first level which showed a " cohesive subgroups" relationship model.(2)The cities were divided into four levels according to the node function. They showed a typical pyramidal hierarchical structure.(3)The tourist flow network showed the following spatial patterns: dense in north and sparse in south; Lanzhou as the core; the combination of corridor type and loop type.(4)The integrated self-help tourism network system of Gan-Qing-Ning should be established by improving the tourist facilities, optimizing the transportation network and enhancing the cooperation between the interregional tourism cities.
