PALEOGEOGRAPHICAL PROCESSES IN THE FORMATION OF CHINA ARID LAND

Wang Jiuwen (Institute of Oasis Development,Inner Mongolia Forestry College,Hohhot 010019)
In the paper, the author briefly expounds the causes and paleogeographical processes in the formation of China arid land since the Tertiary Period .The whole processes are divided into 3 stages ,that is ,forest stage, steppe stage and desertification stage , meanwhile, their features and the influences on modern environment are discussed. \ \
