Permanent Income and Chinese Residents' Consumption Demand

Liu Yunzhuan;School of Economics and Management,Northwestern University;School of Economics and Management,Sanmenxia Polytechnic;
The consumer demand as an important part of the final demand,is the main driving force of China economic development in the future several years. It is also the key to enter the high-income stage,but its shortcomings are the main problems now in China. So this article mainly focuses on how to improve the consumer demand. Based on the permanent income hypothesis and the differences of income persistence,liquidity constraints,income uncertainty and other aspects between employment in urban units and non urban units,we construct the mathematical model of consumer demand. Based on the reality of China,the panel data of 30 provinces and cities in 2006 ~ 2016 years are selected for empirical tests. The results show that the proportion of urban labor employment and the consumption rate of residents are positively correlated. It is suggested that by improving the employment mechanism and improving the employability of the labor market,we can improve the employment and income stability of the non urban units,increase the proportion of labor income and so on,as a result improve the consumption rate of Chinese residents.
