Physics Fields Analysis of Milling Insert with 3D Complex GrooveBased on Density Functions

Taking the waved-edge milling insert (the curved rake plane) developed by the Harbin University of Science and Technology as an example, based on the milling force mathematical model, the force density function of curved rake plane was established through the milling force and chip-tool contact experiments, and the stress field analysis was carried out based on this function. Based on the milling temperature mathematical model, the heat density function of waved-edge milling insert was built up by using the heat exchange theory, and the temperature field analysis was carried out based on this function. All these studies have laid down a theoretic base for the groove optimization technology.
