Wear Mechanisms of Al_2O_3/TiC Ceramic CuttingTools in Machining of G4335V
Zhang Jinsheng et al
The machining performance and wear mechanism of the Al2O3/TiC ceramic cutting tool in continuous turning of G4335V high strength steel were examined. Resultsshowed that at lower cutting speed, the flank wear resistance of the Al2O3/TiC tool was almost the same as the cemented carbide tool (YT15), while at high cutting speed, the Al2O3/TiC tool exhibited much more improved flank wear resistance compared to cemented carbide tool.Adhesion and abrasion wear were found to be tile diminant wear mechanism.
