Carbon Emission Constraint and Transfer of Development Mode of China’s Foreign Trade:a Perspective from Embodied CO_2 Emission

This paper is based on multilateral input-output model and unilater-al input-output model to calculate the carbon emission of foreign trade of China’ s 16 manufacturing industrial sectors from 1994 to 2004 and compare the results of above models.It uses Balance of Emissions Terms of Trade(BEET) and Pollu-tion Terms of Trade(PTT) index to empirically test the carbon balance of China ’s foreign trade.It uses industrial-level panel data model to test the effects of foreign trade and other determinants on carbon emission which is helpful to find the driving factors of China’s carbon emission.The results are as follows.First-ly,the carbon intensity of export is larger than import.Secondly,the relationship between BEET(PTT) and competitiveness index of 16 industries are significant-ly positive.Finally,the increasing of manufacturing efficiency helps to reduce the BEET,and the improvement of RD helps to reduce the PTT.
