The Social Impact of the Peasant Associations in Late Qing

The advocacy and establishment of the peasant associations in the late Qing took many years,which made a profound impact on various aspects of Chinese society.The introduction of peasant organizations opened the modern way of thinking to solving the problem of agriculture,and had the important enlightenment function in the spread of modern democratic ideas and system arrangement,farmers' rights consciousness and enhancement of the national idea.Its activities brought new agricultural ideas and farming methods.Peasant association offered a new carrier for the traditional gentry' s power,eased the pressure of social change facing the Qing government,and maintained the ruling of the Qing government to some extent.
