ON THE MASS-SPRING MODEL OF MOLECULAR VIBRATION OF A SYMMETRIC TRIATOMIC MOLECULE

A physical model is presented to account for the vibration of a symmetric triatomic molecular.Concerning the micro-amplitude vibration,the corresponding ordinary differential equation(ODE)was formulated with the bond angle and two bond lengths as the general coordinates.The ODE was analyzed;as a result,eigenfrequencies and eigenmodes were achieved.This model is validated by the literature data.The comparison results indicate that three eigenfrequencies of the presented model match the literature data well.
