INFLUENCE OF INQUIRY TEACHING MODE ON UNDERGRADUATES' SCIENTIFIC REASONING ABILITY

In this paper we analyze the influence of inquiry teaching mode on undergraduate students' scientific reasoning ability.It is found that undergraduates with inquiry teaching training show better scientific reasoning ability than those in traditional learning groups.They are obviously outstanding in control variable reasoning,correlation reasoning,and hypothesis deductive reasoning ability.It is also found in our study,that senior undergraduate students are significantly better at scientific reasoning than junior students,and they have a greater tendency to make reasonable assumptions and develop better deductive reasoning skills.It can be concluded that inquiry learning plays a significant role in cultivating undergraduates' scientific reasoning ability.
