Research on profile modification of multi-function machine transmission gears

Gear profile modification is an important means to reduce the meshing and nip-out impact,and improve the smoothness of gear transmission.In order to determine the effect of different amount and distribution of modification on gear shape,the modification and transient dynamic analysis of transmission gears were carried out by using KISSsoft and ANSYS Workbench,thus,changing curves of contact stress before and after the modification were obtained.The results indicated that when modification amount are the same,modified gear tooth tops is better than modified gear tooth top and root.With two-gear tooth tops modification,the maximum contact stress decreases first and then increases with the increasing of modification amount,and local abrupt change occurs.Instantaneous dynamic analysis provides the reference for determining the optimal modification amount,and after determination,performance of gear pair can be improved.
