Effect of JieYuAnShen formula on the learning and memory dysfunction in chronic mild stress model in mice

Objective To explore the effect of a Chinese traditional formula: JieYuAnShen formula( JYASF) on the learning and memory dysfunction in chronic mild stress( CMS) depression model in Kunming mice. Methods Thirty male Kunming mice were divided into five groups: Blank group( vehicle-treated), model group( CMS-suffered),and the experimental-low,experimental-middle,experimental-high groups( JYASF,50,100,200 mg·kg~(-1)). CMS depression animal model was prepared. The latency and time in platform zone were evaluated by Morris water maze( MWM) performance. Results The latency in model group,experimental-low,experimental-middle,experimental-high groups were( 42. 33 ± 7. 76) s and( 27. 83 ± 6. 34),( 17. 00 ± 6. 42),( 12. 67 ±5. 28) s at 4~(th) day. Compared with model group, three experimental groups were reduced significantly( all P 0. 05). At the time 5~(th)day after administration,the latency to escape in model group and experimental-high group were( 48. 67 ± 13. 37),( 24. 33 ± 15. 33)s. Compared with model group,experimental-high group was reducedsignificantly( all P 0. 05). The time in platform zoneat the same time in model group,experimental-middle group and experimental-high group were( 38. 17 ± 11. 36) s and( 64. 17 ± 8. 84),( 65. 00 ± 9. 75) s. Compared with model group,experimental-middle group and experimental-high group was reduced significantly( all P 0. 05).Conclusion JYASF might affect MWM performance of CMS depression animal model,suggesting rectifying the learning and memory dysfunction of CMS animal model.
