The Study of Copolymerization of L-Ala-NCA and Gly-NCA

In nitribenzene, the copolymerization of L-Ala-NCA and Gly-NCA, initiated by n-butylamine, was studied. The influence of monomer composition and reaction temperature on the rate of copolymerization and the molecular weight of resulted copolymers were disscussed. It was found in experiment that the L-Ala-NCA and Gly-NCA co-crystal could be copolymerized by thermal ring-opening without any initiator in toluene. The molecular weight of PAla-Gly obtained in this way is much higher than that prepared by initiator copolymerization system.
