The Melting Behavior of PBT/PET blends

The melting behavior of PBT/PET blends has been investigated by Differential Scanning Calormetry(DSC). The melting points of PBT and PET in the blends decrease with its content respectively. The melting depression can be contributed to two factors: the morphology changing in the blends and theromal dynamic factor occured by the interaction between two components. The melting heat enthalpy change △ H ∞ of PBT and PET is the similar as melting depression in the blends. These results indicated that PBT and PET can play synergic interaction during crystallize melting in the blends. The result that PBT and PET crystallized separately, and the amorphous phase is miscible and also be concluded.
