Synthesis and Characterization of Amino Acid Derived Biodegradable P(Ester-Amide)

Starting from L-tyrosine,glycol,and different four kinds of diacid chloride,four poly(ester-amide)s with side chains were synthesized.The polymers were characterized by FT-IR,NMR for the chemical structures,by DSC and TGA for the thermal transition characteristics,by Ubbelohd viscometer for intrinsic viscosity number.The relationship of hydrophilicity to chain structures was analyzed.Results prove that the biodegradable poly(ester-amide) derives from L-tyrosine are gained.Thermal analysis indicated that thermal processing temperature range of the polymers is broadened as a lower glass transition temperature and a higher thermal degradation temperature.Increasing the number of methylene in polymer backbone,T_g and T_d of polymers decrease and water absorption increases.With the increasing of the soft segment content,the water retention ratio increases.
