Implication of Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire for Childhood Obesity

Objective To explore the application of Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire(CSHQ)in obese children,in order to assist in the development of nursing strategies,prevention and intervention of childhood obesity. Methods 200 obese children selected from June,2014 to June,2016,and were matched with 200 normal weight children(normal group) according to the age and gender(1:1). CSHQ was used to evaluate sleep problems. Spearman correlation analysis was used to explore the correlation between CSHQ score and body mass index(BMI)in obese children. Results(1)CSHQ of obesity group was significantly higher than that of normal group(P0.05).(2)Spearman correlation result indicated that CSHQ score was positively related with BMI(r=0.38,P0.05). Conclusion CSHQ scores in obese children are higher than normal weight children,and could be the potential predictor of childhood obesity,which could be useful for the development of nursing strategies.
