FORMATION MECHANISM OF HOT DRY ROCK AND GEOTHERMAL RESOURCE PROSPECT IN GANSU PROVINCE

Looking for new types of clean energy and making development and utilization of them scientifically is the turning point of the transformation and development of geological prospecting units with the increasing demand for new clean energy. Development of new energy and establishment of its large base are one of the "six major support" in the "13th Five-Year" planning outline of Gansu Province. Therefore, searching for the resources of hot dry rock(HDR) will be supported by national and local policy. Gansu Province is located in the junctional zone of the Siberia plate and Indian plate, which is meanwhile active structure region of QilianQinling Orogen. These crustal faults can extend deeply into upper mantle or asthenosphere, through which magma upwell and conduct quantity of heat to the earth surface. That is why there are a lot of points of geothermal anomaly in these sites which are beneficial for the existing of the high heat flow felsic type and the strong structure type of HDR. There outcropping many felsic batholiths of different ages in Gansu Province, and the geothermal anomaly points usually develop in the junctional zone of the felsic batholiths and deep crustal faults,which is the study base of searching for the HDR batholith. Based on the formation conditions of HDR in Gansu Province, we emphatically discuss the formation mechanism and prospect of the high heat flow felsic type and strong structure type of HDR through petrology, rock geochemistry, geophysics, radioactive decay, heat flow value and preservation conditions in this study.
