Malus xiaojinensis Cheng et Jiang and M. baccata(L. ) Borkh were used in this study to compare effects of temperature on iron absorption kinetics between these two species. The results obtained from this study showed that the iron uptake rates of intact roots for both species were found to follow Michaelis-Menten curve and were influenced by factors including genotype, temperature and iron level. Compared with M. baccata, M. xiaojinensis had higher affinity with iron and greater iron absorption rate. The results lead to the conclusion that M. xiaojinensis was an iron-efficient genotype in Genus Malus in consideration at least with its iron absorption kinetics.
