Effects of 1-MCP on Respiration,Ethylene Production and Fruit Quality of Gala Apples

The effec ts of1-methylcyclopropene(1-MCP)on the respiration,ethylene production,fle sh firmness,titrat-able acids and total soluble solids of Gala apples were stu died at an internal30-days during the storage at0℃and within the subsequent 7-day shelf life at room temperature.The results showed that the500nL/L 1-MCP significantly inhibited the respiration and ethylene(C 2 H 4 )production,slowed down the decrease in the flesh firmness and titratable acids of Gala apples during the storage,but did not affect the total solub le solids.Within the7-day shelf life at room temperature,the effects of 1-MCP on Gala apples were similar.These results implied that there is a great potential to use1-MCP in apple storage.
