Breeding of a new processing Chinese chestnut cultivar Jinliwang

Jinliwang is a new processing chestnut cultivar selected from the open pollinated seedlings of a Japanese chestnut cultivar. The nut appearance is reddish-brown elliptic,having an average weight of 21.9g,but reaching 34.5 g. The pulp is faint yellow-colored,non-glutinous,containing 25.49% starch,3.74% protein,0.95% fat,13.59% sugar and 22.9 mg/kg vitamin C with a sweet flavor,of superior eating quality quality. It is also excellent to be processed. It matures in late September. The trees are precocious and productive,crooping year after year,and highly adaptable to growing conditions.
