Study on Therapeutic Effect of Head Acupuncture Combined with Acceleration Techniques on Stroke Patients Using the SIAS Appraisal Table

Objective: The effect of needling of scalp points combined with acceleration techniques on stroke patients has been investigated.Methods: One hundred and forty-four stroke patients were randomly divided into groups control,needling of scalp points combined with facilitation techniques,facilitation techniques,and needling of scalp points.Thirty-six patients were recruited in each group.SIAS scale was used to assess functional conditions in stroke patients before and after the treatments.Results:The scores of movement function,muscle tone,trunk balance,range of movements of joints and painful sensation in the patients treated with needling of scalp points,rehabilitation or combined therapy were significantly improved than in control patients(P0.05).Notably,patients' condition had a significant improvement in combination group than in either the facilitation techniques group or acupuncture group(P0.05).Conclusion: Combination therapy of needling of scalp points and facilitation techniques can significantly improve the movement functions and ease the pain in stroke patients.
