Initial Analysis of Multicenter Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial of DELP System in Treating Patients with Acute Cerebral Infarction

The DELP study group.
Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Delipid Extracossoseal Lipoprotein filter from Plasma(DELP)system in treating patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods:This study was a multicentric trial which is desighed to be randomly controlled and matched with elementary treatment.90 patients with acute cerebral infarction were selected within 48 hours after onset, and randomly divided into study group(n=55)and control group(n=35).All patients were evaluated with NIHSS(National Institute of Health Stroke Scale),as well as BI(Barthel Index),4 days and 14 days after DELP therapy, and followed up till 90 days rated using the modified Rankin Scale(mRS).Results:14 days after DELP therapy, the significant difference of improvement in NIHSS is showed between these two groups, but it is not in the BI.Ninty days after this treatment, the ratio of patients with favourable prognosis(evaluated by mRS)is higher in study group. There were 11 adverse events in trail, and has no significant difference in the two groups. Conclusion:The DELP therapy in patients with acute cerebral infarction promotes the recovery of functions in early stage. This treatment improves the favourable prognosis significantly and minimizes disability.
