Clinical Effect of Paroxetine and Jiuweizhenxin Granulas in the Treatment of Schizophrenia with Anxiety Symptom

Objective:To assess the efficacy of Jiuweizhenxin granulas in the treatment of Schizophrenia with anxiety symptom. Methods: Seventy-seven schizophrenic patients with anxiety symptoms(heart and spleen deficiency type) were recruited and were randomly divided into two groups: Jiuweizhenxin granulas, and paroxetin groups(Goups A and B respectively). All patients had received the atypical antipsychotics. Jiuweizhenxin granulas were given to the patients in the Group A, and paroxetin in the low dose was given to the patients in Group B. The efficacy and adverse effects of the two groups were compared. Results: The Hamilton Anxiety Scale score and efficacy rate are comparable between the two groups at weeks 1, 2, 4, and 6 after treatment(P0.05). Positive and negative symptom scale of thinking disorder, suspicion / victimization, social withdrawal, stress factor score reduction rate showed significant differences between the two groups(P0.05). Conclusion: Jiuweizhenxin granulas are effective and safe in the treatment of general anxiety disorder.
