Objective: To test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Symptom Checklist-27-Plus(SCL-27-P) in Chinese people. Methods: Three hundred and forty-six patients from two general hospitals of Hubei province(somatic disease group), 136 patients from Wuhan city mental health center(mental disorders group), 259 community residents and college students(normal control group) were included and examined with SCL-27-P. A sample of 741 adults was tested, and 100 of normal subgroup were randomly selected to be retested(2-week interval). Results: The Cronbach α of SCL-27-P was 0.90, the Cronbach α of five subscales were 0.68~0.90. The test-retest reliability was 0.94. The correlation between each item and related factors were 0.63~0.86(P0.01), the correlation between total factors and total scores was 0.70~0.78(P0.01), and the correlation among factors was0.28~0.60(P0.01). The somatic disease group, mental disorders group and normal control group got significant difference on vegetative symptoms, agoraphobic symptoms, symptoms of social phobia and depressive symptoms(P0.05). Confirmatory factor analysis showed good fit between the data and the construct of scale. Conclusions:Chinese Version of SCL-27-P has good reliability and validity for Chinese people.
