Study on detection of serum TTV and its clinical significance

Objective To investigate the detection of transfusion transmitted virus(TTV)and its clinical significance.Methods 88 patients[including 11 patients undergoing hemodialysis(hemodialysis group),35 patients with chronic hepatitis B(hepatitis B group),26 patients with hepatitis C (hepatitis C group),4 patients with hepatitis G(hepatitis G group)and 12 hepatitis patients infected without HAV-HGV(other group)]and 20 cases of blood donors(control group)were enrolled in the investigation.Indirect ELISA was applied to detecting serum TTV antibody.Results The positive rate of TTV antibody was 27.3%,20.0%,7.8%,0.0%,25.0%and 5.0%in hemodialysis group, hepatitis B group,hepatitis G group,other group and control group respectively.Conclusion TTV carriers are common among healthy people.Patients undergoing hemodialysis and hepatitis patients infected without HAV-HGV are high-risk group for TTV infection.The patients infected with HBV or HCV are often infected with TTV.
