The distribution and drug resistance analysis of pathogenic bacteria isolated from the intensive care unit

Objective To investigate the distribution and drug resistance situation of pathogenic bacteria isolated from the intensive care unit(ICU),and compare with the other clinical departments, so as to provide a reference for clinical therapy.Methods ATB fully automatic microorganism analyzer was adopted to perform drug resistance assay for common pathogenic bacteria isolated from the intensive care unit in our hospital from the year of 2004 to 2005.X~2 test was employed to compare the significance of resistance rate difference.Results The three most common isolated pathogenic bacteia were Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli.There was statistical resistant rate differences between Klebsiella pneumoniae strains isolated from ICU and from general wards(P0.01),and so were Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus(all P0. 05).Conclusion The resistant rates of pathogenic bacteia isolated from ICU were significantly higher than those isolated from the other clinical departments.Bacterial culture and drug sensitive test should be carried out as soon as possible so as to choose antibacterial drugs according to the drug sensitivity results.
