THE MINING OF THE HIGH GRADE URANIUM DEPOSIT

The Canadian McArthur River uranium deposit is the largest, highest grade deposit, with the high-grade uranium ore (17. 33% U3O8 on average) and big tonnage (with uranium reserves and resources of 185 000 t) . A severe challenge of radiation control and high water pressure dealing is faced during mining this kind of deposit. The paper briefly introduces the geology features of the deposit, makes a particular discussion on these problems such as the underground mining scheme, and radiation protection, etc.
