The Advance of Small RNA

For a long time,researchers consider that RNA only plays a role of the "bridge" in genetic information,which obtains the genetic information from DNA,then translates into protein.However,recent investigation shows that small RNA is very important in gene regulation and growth development.Small RNA is mainly classified into two kinds: siRNA and miRNA.They are similar and different in their functions: siRNA is mostly involved in RNA interference,but miRNA probably forms the ribonucleoprotein complex(miRNP) to regulate gene expression.Here we summarize the latest progress of small RNA from the aspects of structure,function as well as the relations with human diseases.
