The Development and Application of High Temperature Materials in China

XIE Xi-shan (University of Science & Technology Beijing, Beijing 100083, China)  
In the past half century, China has developed and formed her own system of high temperature materials for power, petro-chemical, transportation, aviation and aero-space industries in the temperature range from 550℃ to 1 100℃. These high temperature materials include heat-resisting steels, iron-base nickel-iron-base, nickel-base, titanium-base alloys, intermetallics and also super-high temperature tungsten-base refractory alloys. Some achievements in alloy strengthening and toughening, new technologies, alloy modification and new alloy development are also discussed in this paper.
