The Process and Principle Analysis of Ni/Cu Transitional Layer Brazing of Al(Al alloys)and Stainless Steel

The process, interface microstructure and mechanical properties of Al(Al alloys)-stainless steel brazing with brushing Ni/Cu layers on stainless steel were investigated, and an analysis of the joint interfaces was made. No brittle Al-Fe intermetallic compounds were found on the interface by tension test, XRD, SEM and TEM. It can be concluded that Ni and Cu layers have effectively hindered the diffusion of atoms of Al and Fe from each other. Though there was some AlCu_3 produced, its quantity was too little to affect the strength of the joint.
