Uniaxial Strain Cyclic Behaviors of 40Cr and 16Mn Steels at Room Temperature

Uniaxial strain cycling test was carried out on 40Cr and 16Mn steels at room temperature and the cyclic characteristics of the two steel were compared.The effects of cyclic strain amplitude,mean strain and their loading histories on the strain cyclic characteristics were studied.The results showed that the two steels both had cyclic softening feature.A previous larger cyclic strain amplitude enlarged the cyclic softening effect of the latter smaller cyclic strain amplitude,but the former restrained the cyclic softening rate of the latter.The steels were in strengthening stage when the mean strain was smaller,and the materials were in yield stable plastic flowing stage when the mean strain was larger.
