Preparation of Barium Sulfate Ultrafine Particles by Chemical Precipitation Process

Chemical precipitation process was used to prepare ultrafine BaSO4 particles.The effects of feed rate,agitation rate and crystallization temperature on the sizes of BaSO4 particles were analyzed.The ultrafine BaSO4 particles were characterized by transmission electron microscope(TEM),laser diffraction-based particle size analyzer and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results indicated that under the condition of feed rate 1.5 mL·min1,agitation rate 350 r·min-1 and crystallization temperature 20 ℃,BaSO4 ultrafine particles with integrated orthorhombic crystalling phase,narrow particle size distribution range of 61-129 nm and average particle size of 80 nm could be obtained.The addition of absolute ethanol can effectively inhibit the agglomeration of particles.
