Mechanical and Adhesive Properties of EPDM/IIR Composite Reinforced with Aramid Fabric

WANG Wen-dong;HU Hao;LI Xiao-hui;Shanghai Research Institute of Materials;Shanghai Key Laboratory for Engineering Materials Evaluation;  
Ethylene-propylene terpolymer(EPDM)and isobutylene-isoprene rubber(IIR)composite reinforced with aramid fabric 1414 containing different proportions of carbon black(CB)were prepared by heat molding and vulcanization process,and their tensile properties,tear strength,peel strength and peel morphology were studied.The results show that,increasing the proportions of CB,the tensile strength and elongation at break decreased,tear strength decreased slightly and peel strength exhibited decrease trend.When the proportion of CB was below 30 phr,the composites exhibited cohesive failure.When the proportion of CB was more than 30 phr,the composites was mainly manifested in adhesive interface failure.
