Measurement of Vibration Amplitudes of a Rough Surface Using a Phase-Conjugate Wave

A self pumped phase conjugate interferometer is proposed to measure vibration amplitudes of a rough surface. The distorted wave front of the light diffusely reflected from the rough surface is reconstructed by phase conjugation. Using this interferometer, the vibration amplitude distribution of a stainless steel sample with a rough surface have been measured.
