Preparation and characterization of γ-AlOOH sol

Stable γ-AlOOH sol was prepared using SB powder, a pseudo-boehmite product manufactured by Condes GmbH, as raw material and HNO_3 as dispergator. The influence of preparation conditions , including n(H~+)/n(AlOOH),SB concentration, dispergation temperature and additive, on properties of γ-AlOOH sol (particle size , particle size distribution, stability and viscosity) was studied. Appropriate preparation condition for γ-AlOOH sol was obtained as follows: [H~+]/[AlOOH] mole ratio=0.08-0.1, SB mass concentration ≤ 7 %, dispergation temperature ≥ 80 ℃.
