Effect of folic acid on serum homocysteine and VEGF,TNF in patients with chronic heart failure

Objective To investigate the effect of folic acid on serum homocysteine and VEGF, TNF in patients with chronic heart failure. Methods Selected 118 patients with chronic heart failure treated in our hospital from July 2014 to July 2016 were divided into control group and study group according to the number table, 59 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional treatment, and the observation group treated with folic acid and vitamin B12 based on the treatment of the control group. After 6 months of treatment, homocysteine in serum(Hcy), vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α) changes and improvement of heart function between two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the levels of Hcy, VEGF and TNF-αin the control group were(17.5±3.1)μmol/L,(157.3±16.1)pg/m L,(14.7±3.5) pg/m L respectively, which were lower than before treatment significantly. The levels of Hcy, VEGF and TNF-α in the observation group were(13.6±3.5)μmol/L,(116.4±14.2) pg/m L,(9.6±3.2) pg/m L, which were significantly lower than before treatment. The levels of Hcy, VEGF and TNF-α in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant. After treatment, the LVEDD, IVST, E/A ratio and LVEF of the observation group were(57.1±3.2) mm,(9.4±1.6) mm,(1.4±0.3),(50.2±3.6)%, which were higher than those of the control group [LVEDD(52.3±3.9)mm, IVST(8.0±1.3)mm, E/A ratio(0.9±0.2), LVEF(45.7±3.5)%], and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Folic acid can effectively reduce Hcy, VEGF, TNF-αlevels in patients with chronic heart failure, improve heart function condition, worthy of clinical promotion.
