Progress of research on harmless treatment of Ageratina adenophora for organic fertilizer manufacture

Ageratina adenophoraintruded into our country from the border between Myanmarand China in the 1940s.This invasiveplant is now widespread in agricultural lands,forests and pastures in Southwest China,which produced huge economic loss and ecological disaster.Ageratina adenophorais thusconsidered as the most noxious invasive plant in China.In addition,Ageratina adenophora is soft in hardness,short in fiber and low in combustion value and contains toxicants to animals,plants,and microbes.It is difficult to use the plants as animal food and fuel wood and to make paper,furniture,and building material.However,there is a large amount of the plant residues remained in artificial and mechanical elimination for controlling the spreading and it is necessary to develop a newway to treatment the plant bodies harmlessly and then utilize as resources.In this paper we summarized the progress of research on harmless treatment of this invasive plant for manufacturing organic fertilizer.
