Distribution Characteristics and Engineering Application of the High Liquid Limit Red Clay in Guizhou

The red clay is widely distributed and has the characteristics of high liquid limit in Guizhou.It is often encountered in engineering construction.According to the distribution characteristics of high liquid limit red clay in different areas of Guizhou and its influence on engineering application,through field investigation and sampling,laboratory experiments,on-site observation and other means,mathematical statistical methods were used to elaborate the distribution characteristics of high liquid limit red clay and analyze the reasons for the difference in high liquid limit,and explore the possibility of high liquid limit red clay as a roadbed filling material according to engineering examples.According to the statistical results of 134 red clay samples,the high liquid limit red clay has the highest liquid limit in Guiyang in the middle and the lowest liquid limit in Shuicheng in the west,with a trend of increasing gradually from the west to the east.According to the engineering example,the high liquid limit red clay compaction degree and CBR value can fully meet the requirements of roadbed filling materials,and the stability of filling the roadbed slope can also be guaranteed.It can be used as a reference for engineering construction in the high liquid limit red clay area.
